Today, 4th October, World Animal Day is celebrated with the mission to ‘to raise the status of animals in order to improve welfare standards around the globe’.
Here in the heart of Scotland’s first National Park, we are surrounded by wildlife. Welfare and conservation of Scotland’s iconic wild animals are of huge concern to the people that look after and manage the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Much effort goes into ensuring that Scotland’s wild animals are protected and flourish within the park boundaries.
Our fauna is one of the key reasons visitors are drawn to this beautiful part of Scotland and is among the incentives for people choosing to live and work in this area. Red squirrels, pine martens, deer, seals, otters, these are all among the animals that live alongside us and we are lucky enough to see on a regular basis.
Visitors also often bring their own animal companions when visiting the park, and this is a growing trend. We have found the number of people booking Rhumhor and bringing their dogs has grown year and on year and we are delighted to be able to offer our guests quality pet friendly accommodation in such an ideal location. Bringing your pet does not mean you have to miss out on wildlife experiences. If your dog has its sea legs it can accompany you onto the loch to see the local seal colony and more elusive animals such as red squirrels or pine martens may be seen as you walk or drive along the roads in the glen. Deer can sometimes be spotted from the house, and more often on the tracks through the forestry commission areas of the Argyll Forest Park.
Rather than sending your dog off to kennels it is much nicer to be able to bring your dog on holiday with you, so you can all enjoy the beautiful walks, peace and tranquillity and amazing wildlife this area has to offer. Celebrate World Animal Day by booking your short break or holiday with your pet in an area renowned for its stunning scenery and wildlife.
